Ierapetra, Creta, Greece
contact at chrisi-island.gr
Chrisi island ( or Donkeyisland) is located 8 miles to the south of Ierapetra which is the one and only town of the southeast Crete. The inhabitants of Ierapetra just call it "Island" as there is a special relationship between them, a relationship which is lost inside the time.
For five months during the year -from mid-May to the end of September there are daily courses of small passenger boats which sail from the port of Ierapetra bound for the island. In the fascination of the Libyan Silvergull (Larus cachinnaus) sea, the voyage takes place usually in company with artemides and silvergulls while rarely dolpins too make an appearance. After an almost one-hour voyage the boats approach the south side of island, which is usually more lee (ward).
The disembarkation takes place in the position "Vougiou Eye" where there are day trips and the visitors have enough time at their disposal to make a tour in the path ways of Chrisi island, to swim in its blue-green waters and have lunch at the stand of Ierapetra's municipality.
